What if i use a bigger RAM like 1 Gb instead of the 500MB required. Can it be harmful to the machine?

Is no need to setup something. Just mount the memory card, power on the device and print a configuration report where you can see the upgrade.

One more question. Is upgrading the RAM on the 4260 considered to be a typical user upgrade, or shoud it only be attempted by a Xerox technician? Based on what I've seen online, it looks simple. After plug in the little card, am I done or do I have to go to the menus and change something?

I see two Xerox product numbers for a 256MB RAM upgrade to the Xerox 4260: 140N63353 and 098N02200. Are they equivalent?
