Re: Reset Phaser 6700 to factory defaults?

Jump to solution

So why do I HAVE to buy a new SD card?  It seems like you should be able to erase the card and load the software back onto it.  I have a printer with the same problem (reboots).  I can take the SD card out, put it in a laptop and read it.  I tried copying the info on the card to another SD card but got the same result, so I'm assuming the software on the card is corrupt.  Xerox doesn't have a downloadable file to re-load the SD card?

I've confirmed from another source that the POST LED is the status LED on the printers network interface.  Just thought I'd add this bit of information to the string for other's that may be confused about the POST LED blink codes.  It is assumed that the "codes" presented ealier in this string is the extent of the "blink codes" available.

The solution of "replaced the SD" card is great but it doesn't get to the core of the problem which is "why are the SD cards being corrupted?"  The power explanation doesn't cut it in our case.  Power checked and all printers are on their own outlet.  Also, the printers were working for a period of time before the problem popped up.

As such, what, if any, network related connectivity/configuration issues could result in the SD card of the printer being corrupted?

Thanks for the quick response..., roger that the solution was the SD card.

By the way.., where in the user manual is the POST LED blink code explained?  I did a search of the PDF user manual and can't find anything on this subject.  Where is this POST LED located?

Yes it was, the 2nd post by jnojr states it and he marked the 2nd post as the solution because option 3 was the answer

Yup, replace the SD card.  I'm not sure if you could use dd on another, working card to get an image or if you have to get a new one from Xerox.

This string is marked "SOLVED" but I don't see anything that specifically identifies what the solution was.  What was it?  We have several 6700DN printers acting the same way..., Was the solution to replace the SD card?

Hi again, Jnojr!

Yes, that could be the reason for sure, as three blinks indicates that.

Thanks for that info, Kimzi!

I'm told that this is what happens when the SD card that holds the OS becomes corrupt somehow, and that we need to get a new one.

Hi!

Does it boot up fine when disconnecting the ethernet cable?

Does it give you any kind of LED blink code?

All errors blink the LED a certain number of times @ 2 Hz, pause for 2 seconds, and then repeat.
.
POST Health LED Error Blink patterns

2 blinks RAM error Replace DIMM, if error persists, IP Board.
3 blinks FPGA error Update SW, if error persists, replace SD Card
4 blinks EEPROM error Replace IP board EEPROM
6 blinks UI Failure Replace the Control

Best Regards

Kimzi
