Re: Resetting the region code from Metered to Retail

1. How could he tell that your 8570 was a "metered" printer? (Specifics, please -- it would be useful for me to know as I work on my "group" of printers.)

2. I used the "correct" ink (non-metered) in an 8880 with under 3000 pagecount and they were rejected. First, I printed the page from the printer that provides the part numbers and when I called Xerox, they told me that part number was obsolete and they provided me the correct part number. Unfortunately, that was the number that was on the box I had just opened. When I told them that, they said my ink was defective. All dozen inks in each tray?

I solved the problem another way, using information I found. It worked -- I have no idea why the "correct" inks won't simply "drop in".  It is possible that the sensors are dirty, but mine is now full and printing.

My current problem is trying to find the "username" and "password" for the printer's own "website". I was unable to use the printer via USB, so I am attempting to use an Ethernet connection.

Let me know you you fare and where you are located as I am in the Chicago area.

Re: Resetting the region code from Metered to Retail

As per my customer after talking to the business department:
"No ones knows anything about it"

And in my experience, including on this forum, I fully believe that.  Xerox has a terrible reputation in the industry for being money first, second and third.  It honestly shouldn't take a week to get a support reply that effectively says "can't help you, call a group of people that doesn't have answers either".  Please try harder.

Hello Viridel,

You could try calling the Business Centre at 1-888-998-9922.

You will need to have the serial number when you call.

Thanks,

Resetting the region code from Metered to Retail

Product Name: ColorQube 8570
Operating System: Not Applicable

I have a customer who purchased an 8570 at auction, not knowing that these printers get region-locked, and this one is set as Metered.  We need to get it region-reset to register it as North American Retail (I know retail inks can hypothetically work on Metered machines, but in my experience - no).  I know there's a magic USB key to do this, given that this product is now discontinued, is this something that has or can be provided publicly?

Xerox already tried to charge him $400 for a phone call, and didn't even know how to resolve the issue, so he's already set to pitch the thing in the garbage.
