Did this happen all of the sudden? Or has it always been slow?
Also on a side note, if you have any DocuTech product with a Sun device as your front end it will be way faster than the new Xerox branded boxes.
Did any one face this kind of issue in Xerox 6180 with Ultra 60 ?
Dear all,
My issue is slowness in DocuTech 6180 printer.
Printer uses Sun hardware Ultra60 workstation with 2 X 450MHz and 1.5 GB RAM, Sun Solaris 8
Docutech version 5 Printing software.
My issues the Ultra60 performance is not enough get a good throughput from printer.
Eg:
We send print jobs via Windows XP Pc to Ultra60 workstation. Each print job contains 1000 pages of A4. At a time we sends 5 print jobs to Ultra60 workstation via TCP/IP protocol.
Ultra60 workstation gets the first print job from queue and compiles it and sends to Printer. Up to this moment no issues.
While printer prints, the workstation gets the second print job from the print queue and start compiling. Before workstation finished the compiling, the printer finishes his printing and waits until the Ultra60 workstation to complete compiling. This eventually makes the bottle neck.
My Conclusion is workstation performance is slower than the printer performance. Therefore if I install DocuThech software on new “Sun Ultra 45 workstation (CPU speed 1.6GHz)” can address my existing issue?
