Re: TWN4 Card Reader Firmware for AltaLink units

Derekb,

Please go back to the Dealer or Organization the that you purchased the equipment from. My understanding is that only Authorized Service Providers can acces the Card Reader upgrade process through their Technical Documentation.

I hope this helps.

TWN4 Card Reader Firmware for AltaLink units

Product Name: AltaLink C8130 / C8135 / C8145 / C8155 / C8170 Color Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Not Specified

Hi there,

We have a fleet of AltaLink units equipped with the embedded TWN4 card readers. We worked with, Elatec, the manufaturer of the TWN4 readers, to create a custom firmware to improve the compatibility with our key fobs. We have to physically be on-site to connect the USB cable from the reader to a laptop to flash the firmware.

I noticed that in the 103-series firmware for our AltaLinks that there is now an option to update the card reader firmware via the web interface of the Xerox unit.

When I navigate to this page, I see the following:

Upgradable Card Reader Detected
Card Reader Firmware Version: TWN4/B1.06/CKF3.04/STDC2.01/P

Card Reader firmware update files must be obtained through Xerox DLM Service. Contact Xerox rep for more info.

I can't find any further information on this - what file firmware is the unit looking for? The Elatec firmware is .bix format and this works when flashing the card readers directly, but the web gui throws an error when I try to upload this file.

I have contacted Xerox telephone support for this, but the agents I spoke with had zero idea what I was talking about and told me to contact the 3rd party who makes the reader (Elatec), even though the Xerox was purcased new with the reader from the factory.

Any help?
