Hi,
I have noticed that when i scan a documnet using the documnet feeder, the scan comes out a liitle crooked. The paper scans absolutely straight through the feeder, it is just the actual scan. If i use the glass, then the scan is absolutely straight.
Is there something that can be adjusted on the scanning mechanisim, when using the document feeder?
Thank you for all your help
Peter
Solved! Go to Solution.
The only thing that moves when you use the ADF is the paper itself, so the only way for the scan to be crooked or for the paper to feed crooked.
If you are 100% certain this is not the case, then a technician is 100% required, because it would mean the light bar is not parking perfectly straight.
Thank you Joe. Yes i am absolutely certain that the paper feed straight. I will call support for a tech to come and look at it.
Hi,
Unfortunately I have not. I will be escalating this soon, so most likely a tech will need to come onsite.
I will let you know what he says.
I had my top feeder replaced last year 2 weeks after receiving my printer. This still didn't fix it. I've just booked another engineer visit, and they now inform me that Xerox have redesigned the ADF mechanism to get rid of the wonky scans, and I will have it fitted next week. Perhaps if you are still suffering, give tech another call.
thank you!!
I was aware they did design a new df, I am curious if it will really correct that issue. If you wouldnt mind too much posting here after its been replaced whether or not it fixed the skew, I would appreciate it.
Thanks again
Will do, its booked in for replacement on Monday. I'll report on the changes made to the design of the ADF and if it makes any difference.
Well, they replaced the entire ADF on Monday. That didn't fix it. They then replaced the entire ADF again on wednesday with another one. That didn't fix it either.
The redesigned part is identical to the eye than the previous ones.
So, I now have two little bits of plastic glued to the underside of the feeder tray which stops the guides opening beyond A4. I think they believe it provides extra rigidity to the guides, but it makes little difference.
Scans are still randomly skewed. Sometimes they are straight. Sometimes they skew in one direction, sometimes the other.
The problem seems to lie in the fact that there is no clear register for the paper when inserted. The only thing to ensure straightness of the paper are the guides, which are useless to register the paper straight.
If you look at the main paper tray, or the bypass tray, both have a good register surface to square the paper against before being fed. The same can't be said for the ADF I am afraid.
So my printer has had 3 new ADF mechanism now. I'll wait a couple of months and raise it again. I'm in warranty till October.

Was this ever resolved? I'm having the same problem. I don't know how to fix it.
