Versalink C405 wakes up every 20 min

Yes I have. I have tried a regular POTS line, a Vonage line, a Fios line, and they all do the same thing.

Have you tried plugging it into a phone line that isn't this one? Like one typically used for a phone, just to eliminate the possibility of it being the line in some way? Should not be too hard to do since it is a relatively movable printer and it would only take 30 minutes to see if it works.

Yes I have, and that’s what I’m trying to figure out. As I mentioned on my fist post, it only happens when I have the fax line connected to the printer. If I unplug the fax line then the printer does not wake up, unless there is a job waiting. Second level xerox support said that its working as its supposed to, but I don’t think that’s correct. I just think they don’t know what to do. I even asked them if we can change the fax board, but they did not think that’s necessary.

have you tried unplugging the fax cable and see what happens? that way you know its fax related or not?

Unfortunately updating the firmware to the one you linked, did not make a difference.

Also i do not hear anything poling the printer at the time it wakes up.

The one I linked is the latest one. 68.12 is just the beginning of a few releases.

Those are the versions so far.

If you ever want to know between versions which is the newer.

Thank you Joe! I will try your suggestion, and see if there’s something happening at that moment. I updated to the latest firmware, that had a late October date. Would you happen to know if that’s the latest one? I believe it’s the 68.12.

Then you will likely need to hook up a handset to the line and see what is happening on the phone line, either something is polling the printer, or the printer is initiating something, and you will never guess.

You could try simply updating the firmware on the printer, but it isn't likely to fix this.

Thank you Joe, but there are no fax jobs waiting. This started happening from the beginning, before I had sent any faxes.
