Re: Waste Ink Tray seems to fill quickly

Hi, Each time you turn the printer off and on, the printer needs to use some ink to clean the heads. I'm assuming that between the 4 users you did, you turn it off. From now on, please try to leave the printer powered ON at all times and see if it is better. The printer has a smart power saving method to reduce consummation. Regards Rui

Waste Ink Tray seems to fill quickly

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Generally happy with the 8570DN over the past year and a half for quality and reliability but I puzzle at the amount of waste ink that pools in the tray. Is it normal for the tray bottom to become 1/2" fill (full across) after 4 uses / probably 50 pages? For the amount of printing we do at home this seems cost prohibitive. I wondered if I'm doing something wrong. It has been doing this from new but my wife diligently emptied the tray without question. I only picked up on the issue after the warranty was off.

My wife is a teacher and she likes to produce pleasant copy for students to use but the solid ink is lasting less than 25% the suggested page count per ink block. We now turn the unit off immediately and do work batches to manage what is perceived as "ink loss". Nothing we try seems to slow down the accumulation.

Anyone else have this experience. Any corrective actions?
