I've made some success. I've fiddled with the finisher and was able to get it to accept that it's docked with the printer. The currently issue is paper being jammed right at the point where the finisher docks with the printer. I suspect the paper rollers or some such are sticking. I did get two pages two successfully print after I fiddled with the rollers for a while. Maybe I'll wipe it down with some alcohol and cleaner tomorrow.

I was able to get a configuration page printer and I hope this will let me get access to the IP address and administrative mode. I hope to update the firmware and work out the kinks. If this works the folks in my office will be in love with me.

WorkCentre 5645 "Ensure finisher is docked", network issues

After several years I'm trying to get a WorkCentre 5645 back online.

 

1) It's plugged into my network and I was told that the network controller is working but I am not able to find out what IP address the printer has. How can I get the IP address without printing a configuration page?

 

2) Every time I try to print it I am told to ensure the finisher is docked. When looking at the finisher there appears to be two white plastic tabs on either side but one of the tabs is broken and missing an end piece. Is there any way to get the printer to print without using the finisher or to trick the printer into thinking the finisher is better connected?
