Re: WorkCentre 6515 - firware upgrade decreases toner capacity

Ok, I had the same issue my 6515, C & K both dropped by over 10% from 38% to 27%.

Seems to be a good way to sell more toner ??

Re: WorkCentre 6515 - firware upgrade decreases toner capacity

I also got the same problem, i did not even print a single page before installing the latest firmware. But my toner levels got down to exactly the same levels as you guys.

Any news yet?

Dear Joe,

Dear Helmut,

Thank you for your replies!

I'll send the support an email to file a support ticket.

@Helmut

How did you opened the ticket? I couldn't add my printer in Xerox MySupport.

Happy Easter @all!

Re: WorkCentre 6515 - firware upgrade decreases toner capacity

I can confirm this misconduct.

For me it was exactly the same. I have a new 6515.

One page printed, then I made the firmware to 65.21.71 update.
The toner level decreased from 100% to 84%.

I habe opened a ticket, but I have no answer.

Seems to be a general firmware problem.
Is there a workaround or an update that fixes this bug ??

Re: WorkCentre 6515 - firware upgrade decreases toner capacity

It isn't known to the extreme you are stating.

A few percent can be accounted for simply because they are the first cartridges used, you put them in and the machine feeds some into the developer/hopper, so you should not see 100% for more than a print or 2 realistically.

If the printer has been used at all before the update, a bit could be used by inaccuracy (new firmware fixed a bug).

But if it is a brand new printer, there is no way anything normal could account for the 16% lost in C and K if it hasn't actually done any print/copy jobs.

As for replacement carts, they don't do it because the machine tells you to replace them when the hopper is still full, so there is no gap that needs to be filled.

Re: WorkCentre 6515 - firware upgrade decreases toner capacity

Then the startup page was printed.

CYMK = 100%

2) Immediately I upgraded the firmware to v65.21.71

After that the software version report was printed and I saw following changes in homescreen.

C=84% / M=90% / Y=98% / K=84%

3) I called German Xerox support (somehow near shored)

The unfriendly guy told yeah that's normal, with no more explenaition. :(

I asked him what happens when the 5500 pages hc cardridge is instllalled? Will it decreased 20%?

No reply to my question, just that's normal.

Very dissapointed with this behavior of the first contact.

So now I'm writing to the community.

Is this a known behavior? I thought the chip in the cardridge is reporting the fill level.

Looking forward to your experience.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Joe G.
