Odd that the service tech would not have just called their hardware support while at the printer, that is what they should have done anyway. Since you would appear to have a service contract, demand a tech, have him do the following, and if not resolved, and if needed, bring in sales to do a "Like-For-Like" (Replace the machine). There is no reason to be stuck making payments on a machine that doesn't work, it isn't your fault they don't know how to fix it and have not used every tool available to them.

 

  • Swap crum couplers with adjoining color and see is problem moves to that location if so replace crum coupler if it stay in same location try dC301, NVM Initialize, Select Copier on the left, Print Engine in the center, and All on the right.
  • Reinitialize the NVM's
  • crum coupler and a MCU PWB Assembly replace the coupler first

Software/Network reset complete; have switched R1 with other drums and still get the same message: R! drum needs replacing. 

Service Tech has been out twice to look at machine but they have never had this problem before. They tried replacing a chip to make sure the new drum was connecting well with printer but still did not fix the problem.

Do a Software/Network reset.

Try and clean the contacts inside the machine (upper part of the opening for the drum.)

Swap R1 with R3 and see if the issue follows it, if it does, the drum is defective, if it doesn't, the machine would likely need service

Machine gave message to replace drum cartridge in R1 position. Replaced with new cartridge but I still receive the message. I have tried to reset several times but still receive the same message.
