Re: Xerox 6505DN - problem with IP address

Next step would be reload software. You could try gatting a crossover cable and connecting it from a laptop to the printer. Look at the ip address on the config sheet and set the laptop to one higher than the printer then see if you can ping it or open the printer web page. This method eliminates the router.

Thanks for the suggestion.  The pins are not bent.  And, yes, I can print a configuration screen from the menu.

See if the pins on the printer port aren't bent. Can you print a configuration sheet?

Xerox 6505DN - problem with IP address

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I am trying to install a 6505DN on a home network.  I have Verizon FIOS with an Actiontec router.  The 6505 is connected to the router with CAT5 cable.  The network activity lights on both the router and the printer never illuminate.  There's no traffic.  I have the 6505 setup as follows: Ethernet (auto); IP Mode (dual stack, but have also tried IPv4), IPv4 (DHCP/AutoIP); Protocols (all enabled except Telnet).  When logiing into router, the router just doesn't see the device.  When looking at the menu on the 6505, the IP address, network mask, and gateway address are all 0.0.0.0.  If I connect another device to the same cable, the router dynamically assigns an IP address and traffic starts.  So, I don't think its a cabling issue.  I have even tried setting up a static connection and that doesn't work.  When installing the drivers, the install program can't find the device either (not surprisingly).  Any ideas?  I am driving myself nuts!
