It isn't really broken as far as I am concerned, although I believe they are planning to change it in the firmware at some point, for now, you just need to enable HTTPs on the device so that
1. The page you type your password in will be encrypted
2. The firmware will allow it to happen.
So go to the following
EWS > Connectivity > HTTP
Enable HTTPs (You may need to create a self signed certificate) and it will return the password field to the address book, disable this and the passwords stored will stay, but the password field will again not be there if you try to add more.
