The printer in question is the 7970i being used in Haiti.I have done some research about Xerox printers being locked in the region where the first cartridge was brought from. Unfortunately, research happened after we already have bought bulk amount of toners in the USA.
My questions are;
1. Can it be reset to the region where the new toners were bought from?There should be a way to do it instead of tossing thousand dollar worth of useless toners.
2. we still have the part numbers of the toners we first used, can we purchase those regardless of where from as long as the part numbers are correct?

1. Yes it can be converted, but not by you, a service tech is required, they need a special device shaped like a toner, they put it in the printer and it recodes it, then they put in whatever toner you wish it to be to program it as that. I believe something else has to be done in Diagnostics mode as well. No idea how you could get it done in Haiti. And I cannot fathom why you would just throw away the toners no matter the situation, either return them to Xerox (if able) or sell them at a loss (or prophet) online

I have a local service tech that can come over to physically check the machine.
No idea though how much he will charge me. Do you have an idea it will cost in US Dollars.?

I really don't know costs, for anything really.
I know the ones that take a code only tend to cost about $25 USD, but these machines that require hardware would have to be more, especially on a non maintenance agreement basis (and if you had a maintenance agreement, it wouldn't be needed) since you need to pay the technician fee(s)
What does a toner reset chip does? Can this fix the issue?
Unfortunately, Xerox technician in Haiti wont change the market region to another market unless its the other way around.
