I recently tried to pull out the Waste Tray of my 8560DN, and found that it seems to be stuck.
By pulling out the maintenance kit, and shining a light in there, I could see what looks like chunks of ink have melted over various parts of the printer insides.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the solution for emptying the Waste Tray. If the tray will not come out then you would need to have service take a look at the machine. Please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
Boy, was that response ever amazingly Unhelpful!
Pointing me to the instructions that say "pull the tray out" after I said that it was stuck seems kind of silly.
I wanted to make sure you were following the correct procedure to remove the tray. If it is stuck then you will need to contact service and have a tech come out. I have never had one get stuck but have heard of it happening and service has been required. Sorry I do not have a better answer on this one.
Nope. Though I did find a full service manual for the printer, so I'm going to attempt to open it up far enough to get to the sticking problem. For me, it was quicker and easier to just buy a used 8560 off Ebay to get things working quickly.
Not only do I not have a Service Agreement for this printer (that costs more per year than replacing the printer), but I'm something like 50 miles, and a Ferry trip, from the nearest place that does service on them.
I've also found that buying "Genuine Xerox" ink blocks for these is a waste of time - as the last 2 sets I bought, Labeled for this printer, do NOT fit in this printer. It seems Xerox makes multiple variations of the printer, with different shaped Ink Blocks, and gives no indication on the part number of the ink blocks of which variation they are for.
If you can see that ink is keeping you from removing the waste tray and you've been using third party ink, I would bet your printhead is toast. If that's the problem they are not cheap.
