I know it's late, but I found the solution for my problem.

I have changed all components in the printer, like fuser, image drum and so on. I got no improvement.

But when I changed my black cartridge, because of low toner level the ghost image disappeared. So the no-name toner seems to be of too bad consistency.

So, Problem solved.

Hi Joe,

I have repeated the test with the half page for all three colors and there are no problems with ghost printing.

So I think the problem seem to happen between the black roller and the fuser.

As I said the fuser is completely new and the surface is fine and I have checked my tray settings, it is all fine.

Do you have an roller diagram for the printer?

For the toner to come off on a roller , it cannot be fused, and since you replaced the fuser it can't(realistically) be a fuser failure, which is why I went to the belt. If you are certain the belt plays no part then you only have 2 options.

Make certain you didn't get the paper type wrong (fuser wont fuse properly if its wrong), and then pay a tech to diagnose it onsite.

To set the paper type for paper in the tray:

  1. Press the [Menu] button on the Control Panel.
  2. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button until "Tray Settings" is selected, and then press the [OK] button.
  3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button until the tray you are setting is selected, and then press the [OK] button.
  4. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button until "Paper Type" is selected, and then press the [OK] button.
  5. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button until the type of paper that is loaded in the tray is selected, and then press the [OK] button.
  6. Press the [Return] button until the Ready screen is displayed.

Hi Joe,

I have tried your suggestion. The picture is attached to my post.

It looks like some roller is collecting the toner and after one round the rest of the toner sticks to the page again and so on.

I hope you can see the two points of missing toner in the black half and the two ghost images in the white half of the page.

Does this help?

I don't think that the problem is the transfer belt. After printing I have checked the transfer belt and there was no black cartridge.half_black_print.png

Kind regards
Sascha

Print one page that is solid black on half of it, white on the other half, then open the printer and look at the Transfer belt, if you can see the issue the belt itself or the cleaner is the issue.

Hello buddies,

I have some trouble with my Xerox Phaser 6500 DN. If I am printing some black text, especially if it is bold text, I get ghost images on the second half of the page. It looks as if it does not affect the colors.

I tried the following steps to solve the problem, but nothing worked yet.

  • Replacing the fuser
  • Replacing the image drum unit
  • Replace the black cartridge

Does anyone have some other idea?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards
Sascha
