FYI: I finally found someone who would ship their defective unit to me.
The unit also had the 062-380 error, and it seems like the flatbed scan module was at fault. Since I had already restored my unit to partial function by swapping flatbed / DADF scanner module, it was a <15 minutes fix to swap in the DADF module from the "bought for parts" unit.
I now have a fully working unit again and an additional set of drums, toner and waste toner bottle.
Total cost including shipping was less than an complete (original) toner set :-)
No, not as individual part for a reasonable price.
I found lots of defective WC6515 on the market, but shipping them seems to be impossible. I'm betting each one of them has a working ADF scan module...
The part number of the scan module seems to be custom, officially liteon has not documented anything starting with "DL620", it should be "DL520":

Since my device works fine with the (repaired) flatbed scanner, I've got lots of time to find a solution.
Where were you able to retrieve the needed part? Thanks!
I have an update, in case anyone is still interested.
According to the service manual (google it), there are two scan heads inside the WC6515: One CIS inside the DADF, one CCD inside the IIT/platen glass scanner.
This is only partially true, in reality both scan heads are the same part (DL620-01UHG-B) only mounted on a different carrier.
So they can be swapped around. Since the DADF scan head is mounted onto its carrier with double sided tape, careful removal is required. Also, removing the IIT unit requires removal of most of the chassis covers, a lot of screws and clips - a lot of work.
But, if one is lucky and the IIT works after swapping in the DADF scan head, the WC6515 will at least partially work afterwards. No duplex scan of course, but mine works fine with just the IIT/platen glass scanner.
Also, getting to the DADF scan head is really simple, so a swap beforehand makes the final repair a lot easier, if you can obtain a replacement part..
Just be careful about dirt and finger prints - clean after yourself or you will have to do everything again after the first scans look ugly ;-)
HTH
Thanks a lot, that helped.
My Workcentre does the same, home position sensor checking, light on, and then calibrating. Seems like either the Sensor itself or the AFE is borked. Cable must be working too, since the whole power and comms for the LED light goes over it.
This is bad news for me, I doubt I can find another module, even when trolling recycling centers. The AFE is also not very common it seems, the LED driver would be way easier to find since many MFCs use it.
I guess I'll be scrapping the WC6515 for parts and afterwards off to the recycling center.
A shame, really.
Is less than one second.
Ok. Take a look.
>The Lamp should illuminate in white for a second at the printer initialization
Please, may I ask you to be more precise?
Really 1s, more, or less? Individual Colors too (my Samsung MFP tests each color seperately)? Since I got my device already broken (for free), I have no clue what is normal or not. Nobody on youtube filmed the power on sequence unfortunately.
It's really annoying that the service documentation contains no timing diagram and the scanner description is basically "plug in IIT cable, magic, works".
Not even a simple lamp test service call is implemented in the firmware...
>think is the AFE chip responsible for the problem because the descriptions of the
>faults are:
Yes, after some research I tend to agree. Unfortunately, the lamp driver (AK7864) and the AFE (WM8234) are both made from Unobtainium, as is the scanner head.
Well, I could get an AFE for 10€ from digikey, but the shipping fees are killing this idea.
The scan head module itself is also nowhere to be found, all I could find online are modules with analog output - the Workcentre 6515 uses LVDS signalling, since the AFE is inside the scan head. And liteonsemi does not even publish its part numbering scheme (or datasheets of other modules), so it's currently impossible for me to find a compatible one...
The Lamp should illuminate in white for a second at the printer initialization and I think is the AFE chip responsible for the problem because the descriptions of the faults are:
062-380 AGC Failure. Insufficient lamp light detected during AGC brightness adjustment.
062-386 AOC Failure. CCD output error detected during AOC darkness adjustment.
Hi,
any hints on where to find such a CIS Sensor module?
My google skills return absolutely nothing, and my WorkCentre 6515 has the 062-380 / 062-386 issue. I've already checked the cabling on both sides, seems to be fine. My last hope would be the DL620-01UHG-B module, but it seems to be a custom part number from liteon(semi).
Otherwise, regarding repairs:
On my Device the LED Lamp switches on with white color (red, green blue all active) at boot for less than a second, can anyone with a working device tell me if this is normal or if it should be longer?
Which chip is most likely defective, the LED driver or the AFE? Exchanging them would be possible, but the CCD sensors are wire-bonded directly to the Sensor PCB. Thanks in advance.
