Thats probably your best shot.
Good luck, hope you'll sort it somehow.

No unfortunately I still can't get it to work.
There is a server here, maybe I could somehow send it to the server and then send it to the printer from there.
Hey you!
You can try the generic driver thats built-in in OS X and see if that helps.
If that does not work you can try following these few steps, by using the latest driver possible
(This may or may not work, you can try if you want but I will NOT guarantee anything)
Go to System Preferences -> Print & Fax.
Right click, and remove the printer queue already installed.
Press the plus (+) sign:
Press the “IP” tab.
Choose "LDP" as Protocol.
Put in the correct IP-address.
Queue can be leaved blank, you can also try LDP1.
Name and Location is optional.
In the dropdown-menu “Print Using” you should select the correct printer driver, and then press the “Add” button.

Are there any workarounds for this?

It does not support OS X 10.7 or higher.

We have a Xerox Phaser 5500dn and it works on PC's and a few older Macs. But the two new macs running osx 10.8 or later won't print. When I install the xerox phaser 5500 cd mpkg file it works and will even print a test page, but when you try to print a document it gives an error that says "Filter Failed".
Also when you go to options and supplies from the printer/scanner menu in system preferences, the actual driver doesn't show up in the drive section.
Any ideas?
