Hi VersaPeet, it could be something as simple as the ethernet cable being too close to the electrical cable and the crosstalk is enough for the device to think it's time to wake up. So, first I would make sure the ethernet cable is not near any electrical. Next, it would change the patch cable followed by trying a different network drop.
Try turning off bi-directional communication on the printer. In the Printers control panel, right click Xerox Printer Properties, go to Communicaiton and Change Bi-Directional Communication to Manual and Acquire Devices Status to Never.
Above are the simple steps. If they don't help and not knowing how big your network is or what equpment you have at your disposal, it's hard to say more. However, I would creat a network with only the printer and one PC. If the printer does not do it, there is something on the network that is reaching out to the printer. If it still does it, try a differnt PC and see what happens. After that, I would start getting network traces to see what traffic is going to the printer.

Hi VersaPeet, I had a similar issue with my C415 but I don't have that issue any longer. My issue was that there was an appliance plugged into the same circut as my C415 and when that appliance kicked on, it would cause a power surge and then my C415 would come out of sleep mode. I moved my device to a new outlet and I no longer have that issue.
I've also seen that when the network port was reset that my device would come out of sleep mode. I assume this is due to the network switch port reactivating and the device thinging a job is coming in.
I would try unplugging the device from the network and see how sleepmode is working. If it does not wake, something on your network is causing it to wake. If it's wakes not connected to the network, it is a device setting that is keeping it awake.
You can also look in the Properties, General Setup, Energy Saver and try using Maximum Savings versus standard. In that area you will see what items remain awake under standard and that can help you troublehoot the issue you are having.
