xerox 6505dn shows black vertical line on faxing/copying through ADF only

Thanks! This did it.  There was an imperceptible sticky bit on the glass strip. I scraped it off, and everything works great.

Hi!

You will get lines while copying from the ADF if the glass on the left side (as you refer to glass strip) is dirty.

I suggest trying to clean it once more with some window cleaner or anything like that.

If that does not work it could be that the glass is damaged?

Today my Xerox 6505DN started showing a black vertical line, placed at the left margin, when I copy through the ADF.  It also shows a line when I fax using the ADF.  There are no issues when I print, or scan/copy from the glass plate.

I've tried unplugging and plugging back in.  I've tried cleaning the glass strip and glass plate. 

I'm thinking that there must be dust/dirt somewhere in the ADF.  Is there any way to clean it? Are there any other possible problems?
