016-910 Message on 6515 Since Start-up

Product Name: WorkCentre 6515
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

I am still trying to set up my new 6515. Every time I send a test job (in Word or Excel), I get an 016-910 error message saying the printer is waiting for "8.5 x 11" paper in Tray 1. This despite the display saying it is set up for A4 paper, my postings are configured for A4 paper, and there is b***** A4 paper in the tray! (You can tell its been a long night!).The only way I can get the printer to print is by measuring and cutting some paper to .... 8.5x11 inches and putting that in the tray. Who has ever heard of 8.5x11 paper these days? 

I have poured through community postings on the subject, but they either don't cover it or 'fix-it' naratives use a very different version of Windows 10 (Ugh!!) to me - Win10 does not have a 'Menu' button, so no answers there .... so far.

Anybody got any ideas?

This morning, it started to print properly for no obvious reason! ... most of the time. It still error codes occasionally, for reasons I have yet to fathom.

Probably the fault was helped by the printer being switched off for several hours overnight, although I had tried restarts several times last night. Also, I have now found my way into the administrator mode (no thanks to Xerox), so have been able to interogate all the settings.

If anyone has any thoughts to add, I'll keep this thread open for a few days.

I feel your pain Brada !

Just had a day of exactly the same issue since start up. Wrong paper size error code. Checked and double checked paper sizes on the printer, in the app, even on my Word Doc. Fully reset printer twice. 

I then dug into the computer and found the answer.

In your computer, go to Settings, Devices, Printers and Scanners, Find WorkCentre 6515 and click on it once.

Then click Manage.

On the left menu click Printer Properties which opens a new window.

On the General Tab, hey presto! - it showed a dialogue box with paper available (in my case it showed 'Letter'.....who the heck uses letter sized paper nowadays!!!).

To change this you need to click on the Device Settings tab.

Here you can set the 'Form To Tray Assignment' for each input - Automatic, Bypass Tray and Tray 1 (and Tray 2 if you've got it).  Once you've changed the size to A4, don't forget to click apply, then check in the General Tab again and you will see the dialogue box now showing A4.  

Life just shouldn't be this hard.

I get the exact same problem but on one of my computers there is no problem printing/scanning yet on the other computer it brings up this error constantly. However, my paper size is 8.5"x11" for all my trays. I even turned off the IPv6 setting based off of other forum recommendation. YET the issues persists. Any ideas why it only affects the one computer? What am I missing? Please advise. Thanks.

Hello,

I have just installed the WorkCentre 6515 and I continue to receive the "held for resources 016-910" message and nothing will print.  

I have checked all printer tray and paper setting and all are correct on the printer setting and computer settings.  The driver is up to date.

I have reviewed all the posts regarding this and nothing seems to work.

Is there any way to get some help from support?

Given that it is about 11 months since I posted my moan, I had forgotten all about it. This is partly offset by the fact that, through perserverence,  I too eventually stumbled on the "Printer Properties" dialogue - buried far too deeply  (Xerox please note!) in the printing set up. I managed to get rid of the message, and now my 6515 prints most of the time on demand. Sometimes I still have to switch it off then back on again.

Generally speaking though, my whole Xerox experience has been ruined by settings that either just don't work, or are too convoluted to be worth using. Why must manufacturers indulge in such mind-boggling over-complication? It is so unnecessary when all I want is a printer!! I will go back to Canon next time! It was much simpler.

Yeah.  I finally gave them a call.  It appears that I did not select "OK" in a couple places to save my new settings.  Hopefully that fixes it for good.  Sure was surprise to have a nifty new printer that doesn't print.  I will keep that tech support number close, just in case.
