2-sided printing from a mac on Phaser 6022

Any progress on this in the last year?

I have downloaded and installed the Jan 2020 version of the driver on macOS Catalina and still find no way to use the two-sided printing option that, as for others posting here, was a deciding feature in my purchase.

Perhaps the manufacturer can help with this: What in the Phaser 6022 corresponds to the advertised capacity for two-sided printing, and how do you use it?

I see what you mean. The user guide does say there is an option in the driver to enable it. 

You will have to call Xerox and ask for 2nd level support, referencing the user guide as feature in the driver that's disabled

Correct.  This is what is not working in the Mac version of the driver, at least not in the form I expect from the User Guide or my previous experience with other no-duplex-hardware printers.

My expectation is that I submit a print job 2-sided, which processes some pages through the printer and then pauses.  I go to the printer and shift the shift the pages from the output stack to the input feeder, and then tell it to continue in some way. [My preference here is to press a button on the printer, but the manual seems to describe making a trip back to the computer.]  The printer then prints the rest of the pages and it finishes as a 2-sided document.

With the current Mac driver, there does not appear to be any way to do this in a single print job. There is no pause, and no opportunity to shift the pages before printing the second side. That is the problem.

My workaround described earlier is to create two separate printer presets for even and odd pages with my preferred long-edge binding.  To print 2-sided, I open the print dialogue and print the even pages in one print job, then go to the printer and shift the pages to the input feeder.  Then I return to the computer, open the print dialogue again and submit a second print job containing the odd pages.  While this works, it is a lot of extra steps in configuring a computer to use the printer (re-creating the presets on each one), in printing documents, and in explaining the procedure to other users.  This workaround was entirely generated by me and could be applied for any printer, so it raises the question of what 'feature' is being referred to in the printer specifications.

Manual 2 sided printing means you taking the paper and putting it back in the printer upside down to print the other side. It does not have the hardware to support  automatic 2 sided printing.

Yes, the User Guide on page 81 says "supports manual 2-sided printing." 

This does not appear to be implemented in the Mac OS version of the driver, or it is not clear how to enable it. 

In my case (latest firmware, latest driver, Mojave) the 2-sided option is consistently greyed out.  This option appears when the printer is installed with the default 'Use: AirPrint', but I think it did not appear when I initially selected the option 'Use: Xerox Phaser 6022 v1.148'.  I have tried using a printer 'preset' which has  2-sided printing enabled, but this was also ineffective and simply printed the document all the way through.  I have not experimented with setting it up as a more generic printer type.

My previous (not Xerox) printer would pause the print job between sides to shift the paper as the User Guide describes, and then finish the job after pressing the 'OK' button on the printer.  The User Guide describes a separate window to manage the two-step process. 

I would be happy to learn that there is something I have missed in setting up the printer or the printer admin menu.  I was going to ask if the Linux version of the driver supports it, but I see that's not there either.

This is particularly frustrating as finding the 'manual 2-sided printing' information in the User Guide was in fact the deciding factor in selecting this printer for purchase.

Well, ever so happy that I have considered, bought and installed this printer on the basis of finding this option in the online manual.

Best workaround I have so far is to create two printer presets, one for odd pages only and the second for even pages only with both reverse order and reverse orientation.  Then print using the even-pages preset first to avoid the blank last page problem.

Yes, I am having exactly the same problem but using MacOS Mojave 10.14.5

Where in the manual does it state it is duplex capable?

All I find states it is not available.

The user guide also says it is manual 2-sided and not automatic.

Windows driver also has no duplex.

I recently purchased the Phaser 6022.  The manual says I can print 2-sided but when I try the option is greyed out in the printer driver. I'm on a Mac, OS X 12. 

Anyone else having this problem?
