Re: 2ND BTR Issue SOLUTION

Can you please send link to firmware?
As I see it, the problem is caused because of the cleaning blade coating gets worn out. The roll also get worn out pretty fast.
I think this issue makes the versant machines pretty useless.

Re: 2ND BTR Issue SOLUTION

update
I quess xerox has finally figured out how screwed up these machines are and now you can download new firmware right off the website and presto now I can wear out the fuser (which doesn't take very long either) before the 2nd btr needs to be cleaned

Re: 2ND BTR Issue SOLUTION

it depends on how many clicks are on it...if the unit is new it will start making marks when it fills up with waist toner (about every two weeks for us) then take it out, apart and empty it but this only works about three or four times then the roller and cleaning blade will start to wear then it will make marks clean or not ...new rollers and cleaning blades are availble but it's not an easy task and if mistakes are made putting back together it kick some hidden error code that gives false fuser unit codes and then you stuck

Re: 2ND BTR Issue SOLUTION

I realise this post was some time back but jsut come across it after having repalced teh unit every couple of months.  As a point of clarity, does this workaround work on a unit already printing the marks, or as a preventative?

Thanks

Re: 2ND BTR Issue SOLUTION

now I don't take the box off any more but instead I just take the metal sheet guide off of the top (there is 4 screws but only take the center 2 screws off to remove as an assembly) Now you can remove the cleaning blade then take it out side to a suitable trash can turn it over and shake all the toner out then clean the cleaning blade and put it back together

Re: 2ND BTR Issue SOLUTION

We have the same issue

the 2nd btr is easy to take out then with care take the bottom of it off and empty it...I do this when the lines first start showing up

there is still something wrong with the machine however ...it goes through black toner fast and the waist toner box fills up with in a week or two

Re: 2ND BTR Issue SOLUTION

The 2nd BTR is the main problem but there are other issues too. We have 2 V80s and started having this issue after about a year. It’s definitely worse on some stocks. Xpri digital silk is about the worst we found. It caused the issue almost immediately. Futura Digital has been very stable. The main thing that helped us was our tech got us new sets of feed rolls. Instead of the white feed rolls that have the double rolls with a gear in between, the ones he gave us are black rubber. He said they’re from the new Iridesse. We only use these feed rolls on silk stocks. This in combination with the new style 2nd BTR and new MVMs installed has made a tremendous difference. We’ve managed to run thousands of sheets of silk stocks with no issues. It does still happen from time to time though but no where near as much.
Our lease is up at the end of this year. We were looking at upgrading to a 3100 with the new style booklet maker. The xerox salesman was really pushing the new Iridesse though. They made us a deal on it we couldn’t refuse. It was almost cheaper to go with the Iridesse then the 3100 so it was a no brainer. The Iridesse has a deburrer roller in the 2 main feed trays. It skims the edges of the stock with Xerox believes causes the problem with the Versants.

Re: 2ND BTR Issue SOLUTION

The lower part of the second BTR houses waste toner. Yours if FULL. Yes that will cause your sesors to fault. So would the amount of paper dust that has also contaminated this unit. This unit looks to be in poor condition and requires a cleaning. I would be embarresed even to show anyone this photo.

Re: 2ND BTR Issue SOLUTION

I can not thank you enough. As a print shop, the majority of stock we use for color work is glossy / silk. Coated Stock. This streaking has been a bane of mine since we got two Versant 180's in house for our digitial work. We have quite few large run newsletters / periodicals that we do each month that make me want to take a bat to these machines due to the streaking, and the issues with the 2nd BTR. We have had to replace them at like 10-20K on impressions, almost once a month due to build up and the inablity to run jobs that go beyond 2k - 3k impressions. The streaks are a constant.

We just ran two (2) 5000k sheets on the two machines using this method of creating Black Build Boxes around all edges, and I can say it ran the entire run without streaking, maybe a few sheets upon stopping fill paper or change toner.... it worked in the most flawless way we have ever seen.

Much thanks for the heads up! I use to do this on 4 color machines to help with ghosting / ink builds. Don't know why I did not think of this before! Thanks so much!
