Good work guys. This is a key discovery. This problem has plagued me for years.
The Xerox firmware seems to be very intolerant to waking up to a different IP address.
So the key is making sure it always gets assigned the same IP.
Your solution, telling the printer to use a static IP will work as long as no other device on the network gets assigned that IP by DHCP.
A better solution might be to configure your networks DHCP to always assign the same IP to your printer.
For me on my home network, this was quite easy to do using Airport Utility to add my printers MAC address to Network / DHCP Reservations list.
I'm using an Apple base station but this might also work for other HW.
Otherwise, try googling "DHCP reservation" for your router.

Yay it worked! All good. Changed all as you specified and I think now all should be ok
Only took 4 years to finally solve the problem. Little dissapointed that when I had called Xerox Tech support, they never knew to tell me this. But with your help, I was able to stumble on the cause, and you gave me the fix
Nevermind, all's well that ends well
Thank you!!!
Yes, if it is set to DHCP it will likely get a new IP address on every reboot, and could after the DHCP release/renew time.
Menu > Admin Menu > OK > Network > OK > TCP/IP > OK > IPv4 > OK > Get IP Address > OK > Panel > OK.
Return > IP Address > OK (enter the required IP Address) > OK
Return > Network Mask > OK (enter the required Network Mask) > OK
Return > Gateway Address > OK (enter the required Gateway Address) > OK
Press the [Menu] button to exit.
Restart the printer to activate the new settings
If you print a config sheet it will have the current subnet and gateway if you need them, they won't be chinging at all.
OK Just had a EUREKA moment. I noticed when I reinstalled the printer driver that the IP address ended in 137. But when I went to check the other computer, it had a different IP address (127) at the end. When I corrected it to end with 137, SUDDENLY the computer found the printer INSTANTLY. What would make that the printer's IP would change and if it's normal, how do I make the computers find the new IP,
OR,
if that isn't an option, how would I go about making it a FIXED IP address.
I'm starting to think a solution is near and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

You can still use the Win 7 driver on Win 10 without issue usually.
The ipv6 thing surely is not needed.
Run the driver installer which puts the file in c:\Xerox.
Go into the control panel and add the printer manually into Devices and Printers
Choose The Printer I want wasn't listed when it comes up and make it a Standard TCP/IP port.
Use the IP address, not the hostname
Nothing in the lower section should be checked.
Hiya
Well, I reinstalled the driver and it's working again. I noticed of course when it installs it wants to install 2 copies: 1 for IPV4 and 1 for IPV6. I have difficulty understanding why this is so, however this time I let it installed bith whereas before I only allowed it to install on IPV4 as I found it redundant. As for the installer, yes when I had installed it on Windows 7 I did also use the 5.6 meg installer. The windows 10 one is 257 megs. I presume it is required in order to be able to scan also.
So all that being said, with a now presently working printer install, in the port settings I now have the following
Port name
Ip Address
Protocol as LPR
Raw port settings as 515 (but it is greyed out)
LPR Settings shows a Queue name of "lp"
but "LPR Byte count enabled" is NOT CHECKED
and finally, SNMP is also NOT enabled.
Thoughts?
Oh I should add, on the Xerox site, for Win 10 there is ONLY one option for the 6015NI. So I can't get around that. The 5.6 meg download is for win 7, not win 10.

I'm at a loss then, if set to no SNMP there would be nothing to even try to detect.
It almost sounds like you have print drivers setup by hostname instead of IP addresses, or even worse, using MS Class 4 drivers which automatically convert the port to WSD. But that could not have been the case in Win7.
I have Windows 7 running 2 6015 installs flawlessly on Standard TCP/IP ports with the Native driver from here.
Good luck. Assuming CWIS loads there is no reason a driver should not send the job with SNMP disabled. And reinstalling a driver would not have fixed an issue where the device was actually offline, only would have fixed the SNMP issue. And reinstalling a driver would not have brought the device out of sleep mode.
I have never used the software so I can't speak to that though, I only install the print driver manually from the driver download itself. Possibly your issue lies somewhere in the other 340MB of data you are running off of whereas I only have the 5.6MB driver
Well SNMP was never enabled and neither was LPR Byte Count. I did however change the the dot from LPR to RAW. Saved it but no change. Still does not detect printer.
I also reboot the pc after making the change. Nope it still won't detect the printer. :(((((((((((

Just disable SNMP on the port and the issue will be gone, while in there make sure you disable LPR Byte counting if it is enabled too.
I think I am going to scream
I have the 5015NI since I think almost 4 years and this problem never ends. I thought it was a wifi issue so I put it over to ethernet.
Current setup.
printer on a router using ethernet
3 computers loaded with the drivers. Originally 2 with Windows 7 and now all 3 on Win 10. The issue has occurred BOTH on Win 7 AND Win 10.
I turn on the printer and the Printer Selection Panel shows the printer as Unknown status...ON ALL the computers. I tried rebooting the computers, rebooting the router, etc. No luck. Everytime I require uninstalling the drivers and entire software package and reinstall all from 0. It then configures the rinter and all works well. This remains working for maybe a week or 2 and then suddenly the printer is no longer identifiable AGAIN. Now if it was the hardware, reinstalling the drivers and sofware would NOT solve the problem. And if it was my router, same thing. I love the printer but I am getting FED UP of having to reinstall the driver package EVERYTIME I need to use this cursed machine. I say cursed because I'm trying this post clean and civil, but I am very frustrated and upset at this issue. It sounds to me like there is a communication issue in the driver software or maybe a firmware issue, but from what I see in the various posts of people having problems of the printer having SLLEEP/WAKE issues or related issues, it sounds like, while Xerox is very polite and shows concern on the surface, it doesn't seem like there is genuine concern to resolve these issues. I have had 3 or 4 printers in my life and this is the ONLY one that requires a reinstallation of the driver and software more often than I print.
I implore you, someone, PLEASE! HELP ME!!
Thank you,
Crazy AL
