6180mfp - Message - replace black cartridge

Purchase Xerox 6180mfp - April 2010

Operating System of Computer is - Windows XP Pro

Desktop Computer (NO networking)

Single Person User only


I have changed toner cartridges a few times without problems these 14 months of use.

Not a heavy user - 14 months x 750 copies a month = Total 10,500 pages.

I only use Genuine Xerox Cartridges


5/28/11 - It shows Message - Replace Black Toner Cartridge

I changed it and it still shows the Message - Replace Black Toner Cartridge

But it allows me to print.  After 20 pages, it shows new message

"Replace Black Print Cartridge" and ERROR Light on Printer is lighted."

**I just changed the Black Toner Cartridge (Genuine Xerox Hi-Capacity) on 5/28/11 and printed about 20 pages only.


Now, it does Not allow me to do anything, not even scanning or faxing which has nothing to do with printing.

Anyone can help ? Thank you in advance.

Hello sop23456,


Have you tried powering off the printer, pulling that new toner cartridge out of the machine and then reinstalling it, and powering the machine back on again?  The act of reseating the toner cartridge can sometimes resolve this type of problem.  Make sure to push the cartridge all of the way into the machine and that the cartridge sits in the guide channels.  Let me know if this resolves the issue.
