Re: 6204 Wide Format no longer supported without Freeflow Accxes?

In the months since posting this I've been able to run the 6204 more or less reliably with our steady influx of Windows 7 machines. The Windows Vista BPS GDI driver works on some machines, and some seem to be able to use a driver taken automatically from our Windows Server 2003 server (which would be an XP driver, I think).

When I need to connect a Win7 machine, I first try adding the printer as a network printer. If the driver doesn't install correctly that way, I try adding the 6204 as a LOCAL printer, creating a new IP port using the printer's IP address. When it asks for drivers I use the Vista BPS GDI drivers (x64 and x32) I saved in a shared folder on the server.

It doesn't always go smoothly and it sometimes takes a couple of tries but one of those methods works eventually.

I see there's now a BPS GDI driver in the Windows 7 / Win7 x64 sections of the driver listings for the 6204 now, by the way. I haven't tested it yet, but I plan to soon.

Re: 6204 Wide Format no longer supported without Freeflow Accxes?

Ken,

Any update on this driver?  Unless I'm mistaken, didn't the non-Freeflow Accxes set-up come 1st, which would lean towards developing this driver 1st?  Just getting a little frustrated with having to work in a Virtual XP environment, in order to communicate with the 6204.  I appreciate any feedback.  Thanks.

Re: 6204 no longer supported without Freeflow Accxes?

I managed to get the BPS to print using the "xerox_freeflow_v15.0_accxes_drivers" set of drivers and their install program within under WIndows 7 Professional 64.  I did change the port to reflect RAW and the PLT00t.  It works, but if you go into the printing preferences in an app to change a setting [paper, etc.], there is a warning message that pops up saying that there is no communication with the printer.  I assume that this is because it is looking for a freeflow response.  If you cancel past it, the print releases with the settings you change.

Is there a way to get rid of that message?  I hunted around for an option to turn off freeflow, but no luck.

Thanks,

-=Alejandro

Re: 6204 Wide Format no longer supported without Freeflow Accxes?

I have this working on a 32-bit Windows 2008 server.  After installation, I added the 64-bit driver (3.2.4).  The key is in the port setup.  The protocol must be LPR and on my system the queue name is PLt00t (case matters!).  LPR Byte Counting is enabled.  We had this unit on a Windows 2003 server and duplicated the settings from there.

We have the same problem.  Where is the 3.3.4 version?  I see 3.2.4 as the latest.  Someone suggested the Docuwide 3030 Japanese driver would work for Windows 7 but no luck with that either.

I had the same problem with my 6050 w/o free flow access.   Try the Windows XP x64 driver "Xerox Wide Format BPS GDI Driver version 3.3.4".  Should work.

Re: 6204 Wide Format no longer supported without Freeflow Accxes?

Hi,

It sounds like you may have the 6204 BPS aka Basic Print Server as you state you don't have a FreeFlow Accxes server.  The 6204 BPS doesn't have win7 drivers posted yet.  We are currently looking at the potential to get some and test them.

So for now Win7 is not supported yet with the 6204 BPS, but the APS aka Accxes Print Server does have Win7 drivers available.  If/when we get Win7 compatable drivers for the 6204 they will be posted to xerox.com drivers and downloads page.

If you have further questions or concerns please contact the xerox support hotline.

6204 no longer supported without Freeflow Accxes?

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I looked for Windows 7 drivers at Xerox's site, but all that's available are "FreeFlow Accxes" drivers  -- and I don't think we have the FreeFlow Accxes print server here. We print directly from our Windows Server 2003 file server. Is that no longer supported?

Meanwhile I can't get this to print from Windows 7. All of our XP machines work fine with it.

I tried installing the Freeflow Accxes driver anyway, locally on the Windows 7 workstation, as well as on the file server, but it both cases the setup wizard wouldn't pick up the printer, even after I fed it the IP address. I'm assuming it's looking for that FreeFlow print server, which we don't have.

Can anyone offer any clues? Has Xerox stopped supporting use of the 6204 without FreeFlow Accxes? Will we see non-FreeFlow drivers for Windows 7 at any point?
