Hi Laura
Thank you for using the Xerox forum.
I would suggest that you review the following site and search there for a possible solution
WorkCentre 7328/7335/7345/7346 with built-in controller Support & Drivers.
I searched for slow printing and found this possible solution Large Print Jobs Do Not Print Completely and Constantly Restart
If that does not resolve your issue you may consider contacting our specific product support experts at the following link:Fast Track to the Expert
I have a Xerox 7345 Using the Xerox GPD PCL 6 version 3.4.377.6.0. Printer is installed on Server 2012 x64 print server and distributed by GPO to Windows 7 PCs.
The problem occurs when printing multiple page color print jobs greater than 50 meg in size (size is a rough estimate). The first page prints (slowly but it does print.) The second page either takes an extroardinarily long time or it never prints and the remainder of the job dissapears.
As an example: I printed a single copy of a 2 page color pdf that is about 84 meg in size at 9:57 am. The first page printed after about 4 minutes. The second page still hasn't printed at 10:35 am. The document still shows up in the queue on the server but bounces back and forth between 1/2 pages and 2/2 pages. It's like the sending of the second page is being reset constantly. If I look at the completed jobs list on the panel of the printer it lists the job as having been deleted once every minute since the job was originally received by the printer. Every 10 minutes or so it spits out another copy of page one of the two page job. I still have not received the second page. It will continue to do this until I delete the job manually from the queue on the server.
Corrupt file - I thought this at first but the problem occurs regardless of source. I have recreated the issue with both old powerpoint and PDF files and brand new ones that I created myself.
Corrupt driver - Maybe. Except that the problem was happening a month ago before I moved us to a new print server. and its printers were installed from scratch rather than transferred from the old server. I downloaded the newest version of the GPD and installed it on the new server. It is several versions more recent than the old one. I made sure the local PCs were actually receiving and using the new driver instead of reusing the old one from the previous print server.
Configuration errors in the print dialog or driver - I made sure I was sending only one copy of each job I've tried. I verified in the driver preferences each time that the driver itself was not configured to print more than one copy. I verified everything was configured for the right paper types, that the documents fit within 1" margins for the paper size, that there were no custom settings in the driver for resizing images, duplexing was off, trays and their contents were detected correctly, etc. In other words, I could find nothing in the driver that might cause an overlap of a one page image to multiple pages, which I've seen throw printers for a loop in the past.
Just a note: as I've been sitting here typing this I now have a total of 5 copies of page one of the pdf I sent and no copies of page 2.
I could really use some ideas here. I'm not sure where else to look.
Thanks,
Laura
