Re: 7428 Shutdowns All Lights Flashing

OK so if there's anyone still following this thread, here's an update...

An engineer came in to look at the repeated 024-370 crash issue.  The machine freezing incidents were occurring at around weekly intervals and either occurred during print of copy jobs.  So it was fairly clear that the problem was not specifically related to prints/print drivers (as suggested in the official Xerox cause listed agains the above error code).

According to the guy visiting, there is no way to stress test the RAM or whatever.  His laptop came equipped with a troubleshooting procedure for each code.  The cause(s) given for this code included failing RAM, Hard Drive or ESS Board (?).  So initially the RAM was replaced, but the machine crashed the day after - same code.  So yesterday, another guy came by and replaced both the hard drive and the ESS board.

Hopefully this will resolve the issue - I'm not really sure what there is left to replace!

Good call Planet_Rob, I'll set a reminder.

It might not actually be revisited/addressed until the next melt-down moment!

When it gets fixed, come back and let us know what exactly it was.

Many thanks to V Andreev and Kimzi

I have passed this all to Xerox support via our device supplier.

Hopefully this will result in a hardware fix.

Hi, Phil-S!

Xerox support would have asked you to follow the directions from that link and if it wouldn't work they would have done as V.Andreev says, send an engineer to change the memory.

You should have a 1536mb memory in the printer right now and you could probably replace it urself but finding the correct ram module is a pain.

Best Regards

Kimzi

V Andreev

Many thanks for your continued support with this issue.

I have spoken to our Xerox distributor and they guided me to a support page on the Xerox site.

This gives the following information relating to the 024-370 error code

Modify the Print Mode for the PostScript Print Driver Within the Application

Basically this seems to suggest that the problem is with the format of a specific print job and goes on to detail how to set the image quality for that print.

Can you tell me why you think this is RAM related?

It certainly does appear more like a hardware issue to a layman like me, given the complete lockup of the device.

024-370: Marker Code Detection

This is not good news .... there is a problem with the RAM.

An engineer is required

Thanks again V Andreev

I have checked the fault code history, and there are 3 errors around the time of the machine hang.

Two of these are paper jams according to this list

http://www.enxmag.com/2013_months/aug2013/WorkCentre7425StyleFaultCodeList_82013.htm

but the third 024-370 isn't shown.

I have searched for other code lists without success - do you know the meaning of this error message?
