We are just in the process of deploying a number of WorkCenter 75xx devices. We have set the tray priority and characteristics specifically to prevent the device from pulling paper from another tray when the desired tray runs out of paper. Our config is as follows:
From the device panel on the 75xx, in Machine Status | Tools | Device Settings | Paper Management | Tray Settings, we have set
Tray 1 - Dedicated - Priority 4
Tray 2 - Dedicated - Priority 3
Tray 3 - Dedicated - Priority 2
Tray 4 - Dedicated - Priority 1
And from Machine Status | Tools | Device Settings | Paper Management | Tray Contents, we have
Tray 1 - Plain - Yellow
Tray 2 - Letterhead - White
Tray 3 - Bond - White
Tray 4 - Plain - White
The point of the above is to make all the trays different, so that when the printer automatically selects, the chances of it selecting wrong are minimzed. Works in our environment.
have you setup both trays with the same setting like color, type?
if yes, then the machine will take tray 4 by a higer priority
you can change the priority on the trays, or you can specify another color on that tray
then print with a type color and the machine will look for a tray with the paper loaded
I have a workcentre 7655. It is set up as a network printer. In the print software, tray 6 is the default paper tray. when I am trying to print, if I tell the printer to print from tray 4 it will not. It will always pull from tray 6. If i open tray 6, then it will pull from tray 4 or the specified tray.. any thoughts here? is there any settings on the machine that would prevent this?
