Hi & thanks for the feedback !
Should I understand from your answer that the machine should be put in 'sold' mode on your side as well ?
Problem is that every single time I contacted Xerox Support, they refused to provide ANY help, due to the absence of a contract (and even for paying interventions)... so if that's the same story here, buying a 2nd-hand C80xx without support contract, might just be a dead end... :(
Should I this also understand that the machine can't work 'stand-alone', i.e. without any communication with the Xerox backend servers ?? (something like the 'Smart eSolutions' for the 7830, which I disabled ?)
Hello philippeannet,
An onsite technician is not required to convert the printer from metered to sold, but you will need to call into the support department for assistance. Please call 1-800-821-2797.
Hi,
I'm a 'bad' Xerox customer, buying used machines on Ebay or elesewhere (same for the toners), and use them until they die...
I started with an M24, up to the WorkCentre 7830 I'm running now, and so far, placing a 'sold' toner in the machine converted it automatically to a 'sold' machine.
As the 7830 is getting old, I'm considering a 2nd hand AltaLink C80xx, but I'm a bit worried, as I read several threads mentioning bricked machines while 'playing' with different toner types...
Can someone confirm (or deny) that the C80xx series can also be 'converted' to a 'sold' machine by simply putting 'sold' toners in it ?? I read that (depending on the machine config), a Xerox technician will be required (which is almost impossible to get, for a 2nd hand machine bought on Ebay !)
Thanks in advance for any feedback !
