Apple computer and Xerox 5230 - printer just beeps

Did they say why they could not help?

Have you tried printing through CUPS, does that work?

Does the printer tell you that the tray is empty or the MAC?

I have erased everything xerox related on my macbook pro first in all the libraries. I have a program called "clean my mac" to securely erase it. I have installed the .dmg file for OS 10.10 from the xerox site and run the program. When installing, it never "discovers" the printer, i have to go in and type the IP address manually even though it is a networked printer. But ok, No problems doing it that way. So I went to the Printer pane, removed the printer that the software download just installed, and set up the printer the way you instructed above. It asks about the paper tray and hole punch and everything to set it up.

When i try to print, it tells me my paper tray is empty (its not) and it beeps 4 times fast, 4 times in a row. I know its not out of paper, the rest of the office is printing to it. Also i don't know what the beeps are for. Nothing shows up on the screen of the printer to show any error. 

Im at a loss and when i contacted Xerox they basically told me they won't be able to assist me.

HI again!

Try removing all traces of the driver from library -> printers, and removing the printer in the printer queue.

Afterwards try installing the printer again, by adding it manually as following.

1. Download the printer driver from the homepage:
http://www.support.xerox.com/support/engb.html

2. Run the file and follow the installation instructions.
3. Choose System Preferences -> Print and Fax.
4. Press the plus (+) sign:
5. Press the “Ip” Tab and write down the information as below:

Protocol
You can use more protocols than this though these could be turned off and will need to be
activated in CWIS, LDP is the standard protocol.
Address
The IP-address for the printer should be here...
Queue
Because LPD is built on a queue-system, this should always be entered.
Standard on a Xerox printer is “lp”. (LP)
Name
Optional name on printer.
Location
Optional Information on where the printer is located.
Print Using
Here you can choose the correct printer driver, remember to check twice.
Though this "should" automatically generate when the printers IP-address is entered.

Both were recently updated to 10.10 and the macbook didn't work on 10.9, the mac mini i believe was working prior to the update.

I assume its something with how apple talks to the printer because every single windows machine works and the software download is even different

Did you recently update the two computers with MAC OS X to 10.10, or did they come with that version?

Also if you've updated the computers, did they work before updating?

Hello Xerox family

I have the Xerox 5230 model printer and two apple computers (both on Yosemite 10.10). When we attempt to print to the machine, it beeps 4 times rapidly and 4 times in a row. All of the other windows machines in the office can print, choose double sided, three hole punch etc. However the apple machines even with the new driver are definitely NOT able to print to the machine. 

Is this happening to anyone else?

We are all on the same network as well.
