It's all emulation so it will possibly have issues in any case, and the AUTO looks at  the received code and does a best guess at what it is seeing. In your case, it may not understand something in the headers and is choosing incorrectly.

Auto Emulation 3260

Anybody know what Auto emulation means in the general settings for the 3260?  I set it to Auto and printed out something that needs EPSON emulation and it didn't translate, I manually changed auto to Epson and it worked fine.  I am not sure of the AUTO feature but would sure like it to work since I use postscript and epson.
