On mac with 10.15 we are seeing that the user has to manually select a paper tray the auto select doesn't seem to be working? Any updates coming? Something I'm missing? Thanks, Keith
Thank you for using the Support Forum. You do not mention what program you are printing from but I found this forum post about auto paper select that might help you step up your settings. If this information does not help then please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
Thanks, but that doesn't help. I've found it to be for several of my MAC users that with all applications auto select doesn't find the tray, it will always left the held in hel resources trying to grab from bypass. I called our reseller support and he said he seen it as well and to just have the users manually select the right paper tray. Well they was okay for a little while. But the users are getting frustrated with having to manually do this. And one user still can't get it right with Chrome.

What is happening is that the auto paper menu option in the macOS system dialog box used to set the tray when we would send a print job. That no longer happens, so the job gets sent as whatever is defined as the default tray in the printers .ppd. Almost all of the Xerox .ppd's are set to Tray 1 as the default. You won't see this happening with most applications that provide their own native print window such as Edge, Chrome, and the Adobe Creative Suite. If you click "print using system dialog", or equivalent, within those apps than the issue will occur. You also won't see this happening if the printer is setup as an Airprint printer because the Airprint .ppd has a default tray set to auto.
Utlimately this will either get resolved permanently by either Apple reverting the behavior in the OS to how it was before or Xerox releasing a new driver. Either way it will take some time. So I suggest my solution in the interim.
I will try that solution you mentioned.
Fyi- We use the accounting features so users are required to use the system diaglog so they can choose a preset that I create that stores their accounting code.
I'm not that familair with editing the ppd files. I tried a couple different ways and was able to make the change to the file and create a new ppd file. But not figuring out your step of "reinstalling it using that new ppd". I tried just replacing the file keeping the same name and that cause the application to crash when trying to print using that printer now. -Thanks
