This post (Re: Bug with Mac OS 10.15.4 and Phaser 7100 driver 5.5.2)
does cover the problem I described. The one missing detail was the relationship with MS Office and Acrobat when using Xerox accounting. We had found that we could cheat and use the custom printer defaults created in MS Word that enabled accounting in Acrobat as well. That seems to now be broken after this update. I ahve not tried Acrobat in an environment without accounting (yet). But I will do that soon.
Meanwhile, better information on the problem is on the other thread so pelase refere to it.
Hi PWHammond,
I believe what you are describing matches what I have elaborated on in another forum post found here.
It appears that some change during the summer either with the new driver 5.6.0_2187 or mybe a patch from Apple (or Microsoft) has partially ruined any default settings we create to use Xerox accounting codes under MS Word and then reuse them when printing through another application like Acrobat Reader DC or Preview. Word will use the automatic tray select just fine but if your copier has tray one set to a size other than 8.5 by 11 (our 7800's typically have tray one as tabliod) the jobs get queued waiting for resources to be released. Our work around so far is to hard code a default tray into the settings that has the most popular paper size. But this is not an ideal fix. And why did it break now? Any thoughts on a better solution are welcome (we have over a hundred copiers and lots of Mac users potentially with this issue). Thanks!
