Hello,

it looks like I managed to solve this issue:

1. Download the latest firmware (https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/product/xerox-b215-multifunction-printer/content/153656?language... This link was sent to me from Xerox support;

2. Install it (https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/product/xerox-b215-multifunction-printer/content/145466);

3. Reset OS X printing system (https://support.apple.com/en-za/guide/mac-help/mh14001/mac);

4. Install the printer driver (https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/product/xerox-b215-multifunction-printer/downloads?platform=macO...

5. Add the printer by explicitly specifying the driver: click "+" in the printer control panel (image 1) / select Xerox B215 (image 2) / at the bottom, in the dropdown "Use:", select "Select software ..." (image 2) / and in the window that opens, select "Xerox B215 Multifunction Printer" (image 3) / Press "Ok" / Press "Add";

6. Done!

Re: B215 - Gibberish characters when printing PDFs over WIFI on MacOS Catalina

My printer doesn't just print gibberish, but continues spitting out page after page of it until I turn it off manually, which I can't do fast enough to avoid ruining at minimum 15 sheets of paper or more.

I also called customer support and the party there simply recited exactly what it says on the website for troubleshooting the problem and nothing further despite my explaining that none of those remedies had worked.

It turns out that when I bought my printer, they had already stopped supporting the product, or were about to do so, without giving fair notice.

Xeros should pull machines from the market when they decide to discontinue drivers and support, or at least sell them with advance warning of the cessation date of support, especially when there are already reports of problems the buyer will be stuck with.  That shouldn't be too much to ask.

Bottom line is I've had 5 Xerox printers and kept buying them on basis of apparent reliability.   However I've now lost faith in Xerox, and they have lost me as a customer.

Re: B215 - Gibberish characters when printing PDFs over WIFI on MacOS Catalina

I have same problem as chrysstyann whether I'm printing via wi-fi from macbook or mac mini, both using Catalina o/s.  Also two additional problems:

The printer prints endless pages of gibberish that only stops if I manually pause it by opening the printer icon in the task bar.  However, the manual pause is not instantaneous.  Until it stops, I've lost dozen sheets of paper or more to printed gibberish.

With macbook, this problem only occured with pdfs.  Word docs print normally.

With mac mini, this problem applies to both word docs and pdfs.

In summation, the printer connects via wifi but I can't use it to print; all I do is waste paper.

B215 - Gibberish characters when printing PDFs over WIFI on MacOS Catalina

Product Name: Xerox B215 Multifunction Printer
Operating System: macOS 10.15 - Catalina

Hey community,

For a few weeks, I have a Xerox B215 which is awesome except for a situation I'm encountering often and often these days.

When I print PDFs from my laptop (MacOS Catalina), sheets are coming out from the printer with gibberish characters.
I have the printer connected to my WIFI, it is out of the question using it with a USB cable.

Could anyone guide me on how to resolve this issue?

Thank you,
Cristian
