Re: Bad printing quality on Xerox Docucolor 252

Hi! I bought a used Xerox docucolor 252 a couple of weeks ago and started up the thing so it runs with a Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5, driver: 3.68.0 and Fiery command workstation 5

The 3.68.0 driver is for a Freeflow, The Fiery option has no new drivers, but these can be installed without too much issue. EFI has made the Fiery Express driver available for a long time to support print submission from a Mac so that you can modify the output in CWS on unsupported OSX versions.

I have the drivers so I can print but my problem is that the printing quality is not perfect. If I do a normal scan and copy in the printer the quality is really good but when I scan a picture into my computer and then print it out the quality not as well as a normal copy. The font gets a litle bit blurry and even a litle green when I print out a scanned file of a text for example.

This would likely be because your Mac print drivers is for an entirely different system, the Freeflow is an entirely different beast than the Fiery.

I have tried:
With another picture with high resloution.
Making changes in scan properties and in command workstation.
Make sure that the color calibration is correct.
With a PC (windows 7 64bits) and the same problem occur.

And have even tried printing out an old picture from the previous owner that was saved in command workstations log, and that picture turned out really well!

Was the other high res picture a scan or was it an actual picture?

Scan Properties would have to be dependant on the image scanned, so I can't offer much there

Colorcal would affect everything, so it isn't that.

If it happens in Windows based print, you have much more than a driver issue unless of course you have the wrong driver there as well as the Mac.

Since the old job on the Fiery is still printing fine, submission method still seems to be the issue.

Take a hi res pdf file and import it to the held queue in CWS, then release it, this way you eliminate submission methods as well as driver configurations, the image should print perfectly (since the old job from the previous owner still does).

If it does not, try using identical settings in your imported job to what the previous owners were by using a preset.

So right-click the old pic and select Properties and save a Preset of those settings, then go into the properties of your imported job and set the previously saved properties to yours.

So does anybody have a solution to my strange problem? Why does the printer scan and print in good quality and even printing out the old picture from the previous owner but my files are coming out blurry and bad color quality? Is it something wrong with the driver?

If it happens on the Mac and the PC it doesn't seem that it would be unless you managed to get the wrong driver setup both times, but the fact that it works on old jobs you did not submit heavily implies you have the wrong setup in both scenarios, this would be confirmed if importing the pdf scans outputs correctly.
