Secure Print Only would not have asked for any code at all. It just makes it so you can't change the box
The driver will never prompt for a code, it just uses whatever you put in it.
I suggest you have someone from Xerox completely reload the printer (NVM reset and upgrade to latest firmware to clear all settings) because what you are stating is happening and what should be possible to happen don't in any way line up here.
If you send a secure job and it simply prints, the code is wrong, so the driver is wrong
If you send a job and it doesn't print and appears where it should, then how would it know you were there to have it printed if you did not manually release it? It can't, you must enter a code, otherwise you didn't send a secure print, you did a Saved Job.
And that isn't possible when Secure Print only is enabled.
Secure Print logs your logged in user name, so in my case, ca053204 (my employee number)
So I go to Jobs > Personal and Secure Jobs
Touch your username and it will prompt for the code you used
And then will show the jobs with that code, you can choose to Delete all, or Print All.
There are no other ways for Secure Print to work, if anything else is happening then you have a very broken corrupt firmware, or the wrong driver.
Thanks Joe. I have changed the driver verison several times and I still experience the same issue. As I stated this is a network printer, we have several network printers just like it (same model, using the same driver, installed on the same print server and all configured to use secure print), none of the other printers are experiencing this issue.
Hope this helps. The c400 print driver on the print server is configured to use Secure Print ONLY for a network printer in office A. When users in office A attempt to print a document to the c400 network printer in office A they recieve a prompt on their PC to enter in a secure print PIN then click OK. The users will then proceed to the network printer to retrieve their job by scrolling through the Menu on the printer to the Secure Print folder then locating their print job. Once they select their print job the printer immediately prints the document without a prompt for a PIN.
What I'm thinking: I initially set-up this printer on the print server and I printed a test page from the server using a common PIN I'm sure alot of people use. As you stated, maybe everyone is using the same code. Should I enter another code into the driver preferences on the server?
Your help is much appreciated
When secure print doesn't work or doesn't work properly, it is always a driver problem.
Change the print driver, don't use a V4 or a class driver, just install a V3, if you are currently on a native driver, use the Xerox Global or vice versa.
If it still does what you say, reply in very descriptive detail exactly what is done in the driver and at the printer, because what you are describing makes no sense, if the person never logs in in any way, nothing should release, if the job comes out with no prompts, that is another matter, also if everyone uses the same code when they send, it would in fact release every single job with that code without further prompts, but someone would have to type it in at some point.
Users are prompted to enter a pin when they perform a secure print of a document on a network c400 printer. But when they go to the printer they can just go to the secure print jobs list and the printer will release the print job without asking for a pin. The printer should prompt for a pin. How can I fix this?
