Re: #CUPS_COMMAND wasting paper in Microsoft Word

Hey!

Ah okej, which means you have 10.7 on all of the machines that has problems?

I know that sometimes when updating ur OS, the drivers will break. Which means they have to be totally cleaned from the system, not just removed in the printer queue.

I suggest you try removing everything in the xerox folder under Finder -> Applications and the one in Finder -> library -> printers, after you've deleted the xerox printers from the printer queue.

After this I suggest you install the driver manually by doing as following:

1. Download the printer driver

2. Run the file and follow the installation instructions.

3. Choose System Preferences -> Print and Fax.

4. Click on "Add other" printer

5. Choose “IP Printer” on the top tabs.

6. Afterwards you choose LPD/LPR from the drop-down menu.

7. Write in the IP address in “Printer Address”.

8. Double check that the queue name is empty or enter "LP".

9. Choose the correct driver/PPD file from the bottom drop-down menu. (this is very important, if it does not come up automatically search for it)

10. Press on the “Add” button.

Hope this helps

Thanks!

Re: #CUPS_COMMAND wasting paper in Microsoft Word

I updated the printer drivers on the macs. Still nothing, They are all updated to the current version of Lion OSX, but there are still 4 macs that print the #CUPS_COMMAND dialogue (on like 3 to 4 sheets of paper) anytime a file is sent to the xerox from Microsoft Word.... Ill try updating Microsoft word next...

Heya!

Could it be that the mac/macs having the problem has been updated recently?

Thanks!

#CUPS_COMMAND wasting paper in Microsoft Word

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I am at a newsroom connected by a network which houses over 40 iMacs running Lion OSX and 2 printers. One of them is a Xerox workcenter 7665. Recently we have been having problems printing documents from Microsoft Word on 3 or 4 different machines. It seems that anytime a job is sent from word to print at the Xerox, several pages will print first with nothing on them except: #CUPS_COMMAND   #CUPS_COMMAND ... I tried reinstalling the printer on the iMacs that did it, and I tried installing 3 different drivers ( ver 2.59.0, ver 2.71.0, and ver 2.32.0) and the #CUPS_COMMAND pages still print out before I actually recieve the Word document from the printer... Does anyone know if there's a fix for this, or if there's a specific driver that will help? I tried using the generic postscript drivers, and it didn't print the wasted #CUPS_COMMAND pages, but than I don't get any of the printing options that we need.

Thanks in advance for any input/solutions.
