Hello Dave,
I see no one has responded to this post yet. So, at this point I would recommend contacting your local Xerox Support Department to speak with a Product Specialist for more assistance. Please call 1-800-821-2797.
I recently purchased three ColorQube 8580DN printers (I call them North, West, and South). All three of them communicate and print just fine on an old Mac computer running OS 9.2 and using a Phaser 8560 driver. However, there are problems using my main computer running macOS 11.1, with the new Xerox 5.7.2 drivers installed. When I use System Preferences/Printers & Scanners to set up North, it automatically selects the ColorQube 8580DN 5.7.2 driver, and prints fine. When I try to set up West, it DOES NOT automatically select the Xerox driver, but instead "Secure Air Print." If I go ahead and "Use" Secure Air Print, it sets up the printer, but when I try to print, the print queue reports "Backend failed." If I instead choose to "Use" ColorQube 5.7.2, it again sets up the printer, but again will not print with a 'Backend failed" message. If I then choose to "Use" AirPrint, it does set up, and does print fine, but without making available the "Xerox features" options. When I try to set up South, it DOES NOT automatically select the Xerox driver, but instead "Secure Air Print." If I go ahead and "Use" Secure AirPrint, it will NOT set up the printer -- "unable to communicate." If I "Use" the Xerox 5.7.2 driver, it says "unable to connect", but if I tell it to set up anyway, it completes the set up. However, when I try to print, the queue reports "the printer is not responding." If I "Use" AirPrint, it will NOT set up the printer -- "unable to communicate." If I "Use" Generic PostScript Printer, it says "unable to connect", but if I tell it to set up anyway, it completes the set up. However, when I try to print, the queue reports "the printer is not responding." SO, I have 3 printers, all ColorQube 8580DNs, and 3 different results -- one prints, one prints without Xerox Features, one does not print. It appears to be a driver/software/firmware issue rather than a hardware or network issue, since all three work fine on the Mac OS 9.2 computer with Phaser 8560 driver.
