1. Is it possible to have a color specialist come and perform a granular color correction and apply a color profile to match our office color standard? It is possible, but there could be a fee associated. Especially when it very easily could be submissions methods causing the inconsistency. You didn't buy a machine designed for professional color, it is designed for Office use, even the driver itself by default is set to change colors in the job, which tends to over saturate, because that is what will make most office documents look better. So step one to fixing that would be to shut off color correction in the driver. (make it None)

And all the Graphic Arts programs are now designed for RGB intents, because most is made for digital consumption, so by default, the applications will output to CMYK in a way that makes Blue look purple, and red will be a dark magenta. All of Creative Suite and Creative Cloud does this by default.

Adobe Reader needs these settings to make it print ready

All the Professional ones (Acrobat/Indesign etc) hide it under color management. (Tell it to let the Postscript printer do the color)

2. Do we absolutely need a Fiery controller to be able to have this done or can it be done without a Fiery controller?

If you have completed all the above things to eliminate the obvious issues, then a specialist may be needed. But it is very limited as to what can be done. That is the point of the Fiery controller (Professional color). The 78XX line itself was never designed to be color accurate. Just the Fiery controller (see page 10)

@Fabio,

Thanks for the reply. I am in need of enhanced calibrating and not standard calibrating.

The standard automatic calibration procedure is not satisfactory.

hi

goto www.xerox.com/support

type in 7855 , choose support

type in : calibrate

then you find articles how to calibrate the printer, for standard calibrating you dont need a xerox technician

see if that helps

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Hi,

My firm has a new Marketing Director and explained to me that the colors in our MFP are off by a few percent in blacks, blues, etc. Aside from getting a Fiery controller, is there an option to have a Xerox Color Specialist come and dial down the calibration to match our standards? The director has explained to me that in the past for other printers like Canon Image Runners, the companies he has worked with had technicians that spent time doing exactly that. However, when I spoke with my vendor they said that short of purchasing a Fiery controller/board the only thing I can do is run the automatic calibration on the machine itself. Is that true for this model?

Thanks,

Kristian Martin
