There aren't any printer jobs in queue.
There was a small bit of a yellow cartidge in the machine. Someone saw this and put a second block behind the first.
Suddenly the printer could print again. The extra block needed to be removed and put back to another printer (from where it was borrowed).
Now even without the second block present, the printer with the issue from yesterday can work again. Maybe the sensor was jammed?

Have you cancelled all the print jobs in the queue from the printer's control panel? In fact all the jobs should be cancelled from the computer and the printer before the "Run black" takes charge of things. That is probably why the red light is blinking (or then the machine requires a cleaning cycle first). After all the jobs are cancelled, double-check the driver's settings.
It should be active now. If not, does it store any error messages in the logs?

Dear Xerox,
We have a ColorQube 8570 and the message box on the printer says it needs a yellow cartridge but it also says I can still print out something as long as it is black and white. The light to the left of the message box on the printer is red.
When I try to send the printer a black and white image to print, nothing happens.
I have set the image to black and white both in the software I am using and have specificed a black and white print out in the Xerox Color Qube Printer options.
Can you help me find a way to make the printer create a black and white image without needing a yellow cartridge to be installed?
