Thank you for your detailed guide. I didn't have the time to try it until today so sorry I didn't reply immediately. Thankfully, deleting the printing scout folder and restarting the mac was enough to solve the issue so far. I have not seen the error repeat since I did that. I will try the rest you mentioned if I have further problems.
Uninstall printing scout, and if that does not help turn off Bi-directional communication.
This program is included in the driver package.
To uninstall this program, start the “Finder” and go to Applications -> Xerox -> Printing
Take the whole catalogue and slide it over to the Trash bin, right click and select “Empty
Trash”. After this you will need to restart your MAC.
As default SNMP is inactivated on MAC OS X, though sometimes you will have to create the SNMP
configuration file and manually turn it off. To do so:
1. Open the Terminal.app.
Can be located in “Applications” -> “Utilities” -> “Terminal”
2. Write as following:
Snmpconf –g basic_setup
3. Choose the “snmpd.conf” file, if you have two of these files, select the one named
4. Write as following:
If you get a message saying the file already exists, write this command:
Restart your MAC and SNMP should now be deactivated.

We are a small business with multiple macs printing to a ColorQube 8570dn. when printing to it we frequently get a xerox printing scout "communication error" with no error code. It presents buttons with the choices to ignore it or show troubleshooting steps. The troubleshooting steps inolve things like checking network cables but despite the error, all jobs sent print fine. We also have no filewall active on any of the computers. The error would even be ignorable but it will often require clicking Ignore multiple times, even a dozen times in a row, before it finally goes away. While troubleshooting this, I also noticed that unplugging the ethernet cable will repeat the xerox printing scout error even through at the time nothing had been queued to print. The computers are intel macbooks running either Mac OS X 10.6.8 or Mac OS X 10.5.8. I reinstalled the latest Xerox colorqube 8570 drivers but it did not improve the situation. I am inclined to throw away the Xerox folder in the application folder as we don't need the xerox printing scout communication error coming up all the time but I am not sure how required for printing it is.
