ColorQube 8580: Restart instability

An update: the reset NVRAM hangs, but works after a restart using the new firmware: SER19 / OS 10.80 / PS 4.19.0 / Net 44.38.01.12.2015.

I have similar problems with mine. Only the online manual mentions the limitations of password settings (not longer than 10 characters, no special characters and the first character should not be a number), which locked me out of the system. One can ask about what for a security this is for a system installed on the general network at any companies... Resetting NVRAM is not an option, it takes forever and does not reset at the end (tested with the original firmware for 24h!). I have just installed the newest available firmware, which went well, but it is resetting the NVRAM for an hour now and still nowhere complete. So far the only way of resetting this device (ColorQube 8580DN) is to replace the SIM card.

I have had more than one printer failure where the printer freezes up during a Restart/Reset after a configuration change.  In each case it required a hard power cycle to recover (ie, the control panel was unresponsive).  My first experience was during a firmware upgrade.  My second, and latest, experience was after disabling SNMP. 

This printer seems to be unstable with regards to Resets and Restarts, especially after a configuration change.
