Colorqube 8590 blurry print quality

I have a Colorqube 8570 purchased Feb 2011. It's been great until about three months ago when, no matter what print quality setting I choose, there are shadows, offsets and bit mappy images and fonts.

I loved this printer. What can I do short of buying a new one, which isn't going to happen?

If you print out an internal page how does that look?

I would in any case do a few clean smears cycles to see if it improves

have you checked the maintenance kit? (should be fairly clean and be oily)

Could also be some power problems (make sure its plugged into a wall socked without using an extension cord)

Replaced the maintenance kit two days ago and nothing changed. Even the printer status page is blurred. Plugged directly into the wall. It's a sort of new issue. It used to print beautifully. Then it started to degrade in Word but pdfs were clear. Now everything is blurry and bitmappy with a shadow no matter what the selected print quality. It almost looks like a registration issue.
