I was just about to post that I managed to do it, exactly the way you said. I thought the default settings would be driver bound, but they're bound to the printer you configured them on.

So this worked perfectly for me, I think I just had to play around just a little while longer before posting since I did manage to figure it out.

if you are refering to setting up several print queues, on a print server, which than are deployed/shared via AD, than this is also possible.

If you are working with one print driver. than you will use this to all print queues (printers you create), after create all you se fit to your environment you will have to configure them as you which.

In case of Xerox drivers, this configuration should be done using the printing default wizard. Go to printer queue properties > select tab advanced > Printing defaults adn from there configure the print driver.

You will see this configuration should be replicated when you open Print PREFERENCES... which looks the same as printing DEFAULTS, but it for different purpose (settings to local user).

If you are looking into having 1 print queue, and use print queue settings to deploy between users, this is a different story.. but I dont think this is the case...

Hi everyone,

We're currently replacing our old Canon multifunctional with a Xerox WorkCentra 7225. In our current setup we have the Canon printer deployed multiple times to our users via Active Directory, each deployed printer having different settings (like a printer called duplex_black_white which prints on normal A4 paper, doublesided and in black and white, and a printer called letter_color, which prints on letterhead-paper, single-sided, in color, etc).

I'm trying to configure the same setup with the Xerox printer, however the settings don't seem to carry over to the end-users workstation like it does for Canon printer. I've read you can reconfigure the driver to change the default, but that doesn't seem to be the solution for the configuration we would like to have.

I'd like to know if this is at all possible. It was no hassle with the Canon, just add the printer several times, change whatever option you want in the Settings dialog, and the users get the same settings for the same printer. But the Xerox simply reverts to defaults.
