Re: Desktop Print Experience: no choice to select the output tray

Jump to solution

Printing defaults need to be configured on the PC side of things. Ideally with a print server but if you don't have one then they get set locally on each computer. This is just my own thought on the matter but I believe that's because having those defaults pulled from the MFP with bi-directional communcation would be likely to conflict with a users local settings. So you would have users constantly clashing with the machines settings if a particular user wanted different settings than what is configured on the MFP.

If you have any questions about setting local, or server, defaults for printing please respond with what type of setup and operating system you need help with and someone in the community will respond to assist you.

Switching to the old driver DOES seem to allow you to choose the output tray.

If I log into the console as Admin, is there a way to change the global default tray on the machine?

In the COPY settings, I can set the default output tray.  I don't see a similar setting for PRINT.

Hello MRCAnalyst,

thank you very much for your help. That works.

Anyhow, I don't understand why they are not able to put all the options of their printer in a new driver.

Hello Markus,

The print drivers that use the Desktop Print Experience are the new V4 architecture drivers that were introduced with Windows 8. Some settings are absent in the V4 driver that were present in the V3 driver. But you can still install the V3 drivers on Windows 10 and get your familiar interface that you had on Windows 7 back. Scroll down on the drivers download page for your printer, link below, and select either the PCL, or PS drivers listed as "64 - Bit - Xerox User Interface - Microsoft Certified". Installing those drivers will give you a printer on your computer with the option to select the output destination that you're looking for.

Jump to solution
Product Name: Phaser 7800
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

Hi,

I am using a phaser 7800 DN. It has two output trays. Now i installed the printer on an Win 10 Pro 64 and can't find a way to switch between the output tray and the center output tray. Does anyone now, whether this option ist hidden somewhere.

The printerdriver in Win 7 had a pull down menue for selection.

Any help would be great.
