It is highlighted here, which is found in Start > Devices and Printers then right click the driver to the queue you want and select Printing Preferences > Media

Sorry to bump this old thread, but can someone tell me where I can find the above in Fiery so that I can turn on Tray Alignment as always on?

Re: DocuColor 700 Prints images at a Skew

We had that same problem with our 700 so what I did was use a the Tray Alignment feature from the Fiery as well as the Alignment settings from the machine. I'm assuming you are using the machine settings only because the fiery skew settings give you much more adjustment. Only problem with the Fiery adjustments is that they are tray based not paper type based. Where on the machine you can select different adjustments based on your paper type. You just need to make sure that you then select "Enable Tray Alignment" in the job settings on the fiery or else it won't work. One tip here is to go into your default settings for the hold queue and select the check box there, then you don't need to remember to do it every time.

The real solution though is to have a technician come out and do their alignment on your trays, this will basically reset your default values and you should be able to make your adjustments after that.

You also may need some parts replaced that may be causing the excessive skew. Our machine was printing very aligned with minimal skew and then one day it was way out again, I was forced to use the Fiery alignment until the tech could come out, they got there and replaced some part (sorry don't remember which one) and it was back to normal.

Re: DocuColor 700 Prints images at a Skew

Hello pbmsol,

First I want to make sure I have the right product because there is a DocuColor 7000 series and there is a Xerox 700 Digital Color Press.  I'm not sure whether you meant to type seven thousand and it came out seven hundred or you have a Xerox 700 Digital Color Press and not a DocuColor product.

Aside from that, how much skew does your output have?  If there is more skew than the printers software can correct for then I'm wondering if the paper guides in the paper trays are snug against the paper stack and "locked" in place.  When you position the paper tray guides against the paper stack in the tray you should be able to wiggle the paper guides without them moving away from the stack.  This would indicate that the guide hasn't fully engaged in the slot and "locked" in.  This can cause skew when the paper is pulled from the tray for printing.

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

How can we get a higher option to skew our prints on our machine?

We find ourselves needing more skew correction than what is given to us.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.

I would really appreciate it before calling it in.

:)
