Re: Driver Issues - 5855 - Windows 7 x64

Now we use Windows GP alot of our network. Is there a GPO that could be causing the broken Menus on the Workstation side?

If I could get at least 1 driver package 5855 or the Globals to work 100% i'd be happy.

Re: Driver Issues - 5855 - Windows 7 x64

On the server when I goto the Administration Tab on the Global PS Drivers.

Configuration: Xeorx Workcentre 5855 selected but Grayed out.

Language: Selectable

Secure Print Only: Disabled and Grayed out  <---- this is the option I need to turn on

Secure Print Via Login Name:  Grayed out and disabled  <-- Don't need

Every other option is enabled.

On the server when I goto the Administration Tab on the 5855 PS Drivers

Configuration: <-- No option because it is the 5855 drivers

Language: Selectable

Secure Print Only: Selectable and Enabled

Secure Print Via Login Name:  Grayed out and disabled  <-- Don't need

BUT the Printing Preferences Menu on the clients is broken as I put in the first thread.

Re: Driver Issues - 5855 - Windows 7 x64

JayMan,

this should be done at the server. Do you have the Advanced tab grey out or just the configuration part? If its like image below than its ok. Its because it pickedup information from Bi-Di and recognized the model correctly.

If so, I would suspect a driver instalation issue.

unfortunately your image was not displaying correctly.

Re: Driver Issues - 5855 - Windows 7 x64

I can't pick the configuration on that tab it is grayed out with the secure print options.  5855 is already picked.

this is with the Xerox Global Print Driver PS installed.

If I install the 5855 PS Driver these menus on Administration Work but the Printing Perferences is broken.

Re: Driver Issues - 5855 - Windows 7 x64

Hi JayMan,

first I will assume the driver installation was completed correctly on the server. This means:

  • that older drivers were removed correctly and completely (Global and dedicated, like it seems to be the case);
  • driver was installed as a local printer (option during instalalation process) and not as network printer;

Having that in mind, in the case of the global print driver it could be that the driver is not pick-up your printer configurations. Please, if all items above are ok, than Right-click the printer and GOTO>  Printer Properties> Administration> configurations> Configuration, and select Xerox WorkCenter 5855

After you do that, you should be presented with similar display:

Driver Issues - 5855 - Windows 7 x64

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Print Server: Server 2008 R2

Workstations: Windows 7 x64

Issue:

If I install the Global PS x64 drivers the Printing Preferences Menu is broken on my Windows 7 x64 computers. Half the options are missing for printing BUT I can force the printer to require secure print which I needed.

If In install the 5855 PS drivers .The broken Menu is fixed BUT I can't force the printer to always use secure print. The dropdown is gray out in the Printer Properties/Administration    Secure Print Only is disabled and grayed out.

Why can't I get a set of working drivers for this printer?

This is what the broken menu looks like.
