After recent firmware upgrade to version 38.31.81 the printer randomly freezes with error code 116-357. The only way to clear code to regain full functionality is to do a hard reset to machine. Is this a firmware issue because this has happened more than once after upgrade? Is this a driver incomptibility issue?

116-357 PS Fatal System Error.
Try updating to the latest firmware, which is 38.43.01.
If that doesn't solve it, reload your print drivers (From Xerox, not the MS class drivers)
If that doesn't solve it you will need to do a factory reset.
