I was hoping someone could shed some light on the following error appearing on one of our printers.
|16-569-00||Parallel printing error. User intervention is required to Power Off/On the machine; service is required if the problem persists. Print service can continue using other submission methods; other machine services are unaffected.|
Xerox and Google searches bring up absolutly nothing.
Thank you for using the Support Forum. The error indicates that the machine is trying to print over the parallel port. Is the machine connected to the network and are you able to ping the printer? Check the connection of all the cables going into the printer to make sure they are all secure. Power off the printer, then power back on. If the problem continues please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
I can't remember the scenario exactly that caused this issue, it is fairly specific though. You had have updated the printer from Connecttkey 1.0(Firmware starts with 071) to a specific 1.5 (Starts with 072)release and use a clone file. I think.
In the end, the only way to fix it was to wipe the device by doing an Altboot.
You should be able to get past it by upgrading to the latest firmware through the new tool installer method. If that fails you would need to call in to Xerox and have a tech sent to do the Altboot.
You may also wish to check your printer drivers on your print server and verify that you do not have the PS drivers installed and instead, you have the PCL driver installed.
Also, remote into your copier and under the Properties menu, navigate to Services -> Printing -> General and make sure that the setting for Allow the Print Driver to Override has YES selected.
I'm not a Xerox tech, but I do maintain about 130 of these, and have run into this error in probably 50% of the locations.
